Get to know the AVSAF Project!

AVSAF (Aviation Safety) is a general training course on safety in airport operations, established by EASA. This course is a prerequisite for accessing and, where applicable, driving in the operational areas of an airport, such as runways and taxiways. Since May 30, 2022, it is mandatory for all persons working in these areas of movement at airports in Spain.

Impact of the AVSAF Project on the Operational Safety of Spanish Airports.

The AVSAF (Aviation Safety) project has transformed safety training at Spanish airports. Previously, each company and airport managed its own operational safety plan, but now, theoretical training on airport movement is common to all airports managed by AENA.
Thanks to the collaboration between airport managers, operating companies and the aeronautical authority, AVSAF has managed to standardize safety training courses. This initiative has improved the accessibility and quality of training, significantly raising the level of training at Spanish airports.

The objective? To provide homogeneous and high quality training for all personnel with autonomous access to the movement area, thus contributing to greater safety and operational efficiency at airports.

The implementation of AVSAF responds to a key need in the airport sector, and its impact is clear: better training = improved safety and more efficient management.

How often is it renewed? AVSAF certification has a limited validity and must be renewed periodically to ensure that personnel are up to date with the latest regulations and procedures. Generally, renewal is every 5 years, although this may vary depending on local regulations and course specialization.
